Hosting a children’s event is never an ordered affair. It can be quite chaotic, tiring, and even a little scary at times! This is why you need to come up with the perfect strategy when planning such events. It can mean the difference between a win and a complete disaster. There is no louder (or grumpier) critic than a small child!
There are a few things to keep in mind when hosting kids activities in Dubai. First, know how to identify the warning signs. Second, keep it short and simple, and finally switch it up. Here is how to organize the perfect event:
Know the Danger Signs
Much like the calm before the storm, there are those moments preceding a tantrum or a full blown meltdown. Intervening before the tantrum can occur is key to minimizing the damage. It is important to keep an eye out for kids who are fighting over toys, having arguments, or just seem grumpy about everything. The key to stabilizing the situation is distraction. Give them another toy, provide them with a snack, or even just have a little chat with them. Kids usually get over their bad mood as quickly as they got into it. It is up to you to make sure that they do not reach that point of no return.
Keep it Short
Children have extremely short attention spans and will quickly move onto other ventures. This is why you should keep the kids activities as short as possible. It is best to do one thing for a period longer than twenty minutes. With the rare exception, most kids will be ready to do something else by then. To ensure that they do not give up too quickly, you should also make the task interesting but relatively simple. Having something that is too challenging, may prompt the little ones to give up quickly.
Change it Up
Keeping in line with the above point, is switching up the tasks every once in a while. A good example is to vary the type of work that the kids have to do. For instance, after every sit down task, make sure that is followed by some jumping around. This will keep them from becoming too fidgety. It is also a great way to break up the monotony and keep the kids excited. One of the downsides, of course, is that it may take some time for the kids to calm down.
As long as you keep these tactics in mind, you should be able to plan an event successfully. Remember to have plenty of adults on site and to give yourself a break every now and then.
